Welcome back to another episode of Quarantine Stories. My weekly series of original music I write just for you.

The headline: Platypuses Glow Under Blacklight. We don’t know why.*

I know why.

Simple. Platypuses are nocturnal. During the day they sleep in the platypus burrows at the end of riverbanks. At dusk they emerge, ready to party.

After millions of years of arguing about who was gonna set up the disco ball, they said, “Screw this, we need to evolve.” And evolve they did. Not with bigger brains, or walking on two feet. What the hell good is that?

No, platypus evolution was perhaps the most practical of the Darwinian hat tricks – the ability to glow under blacklight. One blacklight and the whole river turns into Burning Man on steroids. No more arguments about disco balls and more time for dancing.

That’s it. Don’t you wish everything in life was that simple?
